MEET AUGUST
August Golden graduated cum laude from Fordham University School of Law in 2025, where he served as the law school’s first openly transgender Student Bar Association president and co-founded the first transgender law student group in the country, Advocates for Trans* Law Students (ATLS). He was named one of the National Jurist’s top law students of the year in 2025. At Fordham, August was a Stein Scholar in Public Interest Law and Ethics and a Crowley Scholar in International Human Rights, two of the most prestigious and competitive programs at the law school.
August has amassed thousands of hours of pro bono and other volunteer experience in a variety of legal areas, ranging from community name change clinics to advising foreign governments on policies to prevent traffic fatalities. A strong voice for equity, inclusion, and uplifting marginalized voices everywhere, August also served on both the Dean’s Advisory Council on Diversity, which is specific to the law school, and the President’s Advisory Council, which represents the entire university of approximately 17,000 students. Outside of Fordham, he served on the National LGBTQ Bar Association’s Law Student Congress from 2023-25, becoming its Chair after serving as a Member At Large.
August is an alumnus of Hamilton College. Prior to law school, he was a Pellegri Fellow at the University of Maryland College Park, where he researched the intersection of privacy and class privilege in ancient Rome. Following his Fellowship, August began working as a family law paralegal in northern Virginia prior to moving to New York City in 2021. He has worked with Andrew at Golden Law since 2020, starting as a legal assistant/intern, and is excited to join the firm full-time as a law clerk. He passed the July 2025 Uniform Bar Exam (UBE) with a score high enough to practice in any UBE jurisdiction, and is pending bar admission and licensing in New York and Connecticut.
In the community, August is a founding member of “It’s Mutual,” a collective of artists hosting bimonthly fundraiser shows for mutual aid with a specific focus on gender affirming care. He also volunteers with PFLAG NYC’s Safe Schools Program. He currently lives in Toronto with his husband, Theo, and their dog Stevie and cats Laszlo and Juno.
